Style Me Vintage

Posted on 26/07/2012

It was a little while ago now that the fabulous Naomi Thompson of Vintage Secret fame contacted me about her book Style Me Vintage.  I was honoured and delighted to be involved,  and if you don’t already own a copy I would highly recommend it, its beautifully put together and full of helpful tips for buying and looking after vintage clothing and full of inspiring images. The images below are from the book courtesy of the lovely people at Anova Publishing and if nothing else I hope they will inspire you to go and get your hands on a copy!

Style Me Vintage: Clothes: A Guide to Sourcing and Creating Retro Looks

Passionate About Vintage lent several original Art Deco pieces for the book and here are some of the sumptuous shots they were featured in.

Here is a 1930′s daytime look incorporating our original Sterling Silver Art Deco Fruit Salad Earrings made by Hamilton & Hamilton, Jr. Providence, RI, USA.

This beautiful shot includes our Vintage Rhodium plated pave set Art Deco Dress Clips, by Trifari c,1930′s.

This stunning 1930′s evening look is completed with a selection of our original Art Deco rhinestone bracelets, here’s a detail.

You will be able to buy beauties like these and many more in the Art Deco section of our new online shop.

Canterbury Love: The Goods Shed

Posted on 23/07/2012

On a Saturday afternoon I can often be found having a spot of lunch at the counter of Patrick’s Kitchen in The Goods Shedmy favourite place in Canterbury.

Although I only discovered them a few months ago, The Goods Shed are about to celebrate their 10 year anniversary and are even included on Lloyd Grossman’s list of the world’s best farmers markets.

Step outside of Canterbury West Station and into the beautiful converted Victorian Railway building next door with its high ceiling, tall windows and exposed brick walls and you will find what I can only describe as a food lovers heaven. The permanent farmers market is open 6 days a week, and it is here you will find the best of what Kent has to offer.  There is a fishmongers, butchers, cheese specialist, general store, wine merchant, charcuterie, green grocer’s and bakery so whatever you are after, you can find it all here sourced from the best local producers and cottage industries. Everything you eat here or take home with you tastes even better with the knowledge that it is made with love, passion and fantastic local ingredients.

Its also a wonderful place to come for an indulgent breakfast or lunch with a friend after a wander around Canterbury.

I like to sit at the counter and watch the world go by while Patrick and George work their magic creating lemon tarts and chocolate mousse with the sounds of bustling shoppers at farmers market in the background.  Patrick’s Porcini Lasagne and Raspberry Chocolate Brownies are just two of the incredible treats on offer.
