The Candlelight Club

Posted on 05/02/2013

After hearing about it quite some time ago, I finally made it to The Candlelight Club for my birthday. It’s a magical place, imagine a ballroom filled with flappers and dandies, sipping Champagne from saucers. Everywhere you look there are pearls, feathers and swaying fringes. Men and women both dressed to kill, its fantastic!

This special 1920′s inspired event is held at a secret location in London once a month. Each party has a different theme, but its always centered around the 1920′s. The cocktail menu also changes monthly in keeping with the current theme and the location is only revealed a couple of days before the event.

So what to wear? I wanted to be as authentic as possible so I went on the hunt for a pair of  T-bar shoes and a drop waisted dress, with as much beading as possible!  I wore my hair up and pinned a rhinestone necklace into it at the front like a bandeau to finish my look.

To complete my outfit I added a long string of faux pearls, rhinestone pendant earrings and several geometric Art Deco paste  bracelets, all vintage of course!  If you’re off to an twenties themed wedding or event visit our Art Deco department for authentic period jewellery to complete your look. I really had the most fabulous time and hope to go back soon!

“The Candlelight Club really is the closest you’ll find to an authentic Jazz Age experience in central London. Its unique ambience, fuelled by hundreds of candles, is truly a scene to behold.” —Time Out

Writing for Pretty Nostalgic Magazine

Posted on 18/01/2013

Late last year I was approached by the lovely Jo Keeling Editor of Pretty Nostalgic Magazine to write an article about collecting vintage costume jewellery, I was absolutely delighted as you can imagine. As part of the article I interviewed five other collectors about their own fabulous collections and styled the accompanying photoshoot. I used pieces of glass and textiles from my own private stash of vintage treasures alongside these stunning vintage inspired apothecary jars from Borrowed Blue Boutique which I draped in an array of pretty pastel coloured vintage costume jewellery, all available from Passionate About Vintage. I chose the gorgeous roses for the shoot from local florist Lotty’s Flowers and photographer Samantha Jones captured all the fabulous details.

Here is my profile from the magazine contributors page, I’m wearing my absolute favourite vintage dress.

I was so thrilled to see the article in print when the magazine came out. To read the article in full, pick up a copy Issue 5 of Pretty Nostalgic Magazine and flick to page 54.  It’s out now and available to buy from WHSmith, or you can order it direct from Pretty Nostalgic themselves. I hope you enjoy it!
